We wanted to share some information about our historic architecture in Charleston. We hope to come back to this beautiful city and would definitely stay at the Bijou Inn! We parked at the nearby Cumberland garage at $20/day and were close to so many incredible restaurants and never needed to leave except for when we wanted to visit the angel oak tree and a plantation. It was quiet and quaint and still close to everything we wanted to do. Right by city market and in the French Quarter, which was our most favorite part of the city. We couldn’t have found a more perfect place to stay. They were right! It ended up being the perfect time to visit Charleston. The rest of our trip was sunny and perfect! Wonderful temperatures and all the water was gone within a few hours. As soon as the grade 1 hurricane passed and the rain and wind stopped, we were able to go out and explore the city in peace and quiet without any cars on the roads. The inn sits on some of the highest ground so the streets all around it were fine. Some streets had water on them but we just turned and took a higher road. They provided an umbrella and flashlight, had battery powered candles just in case and our room had a gas powered fireplace and everything was perfect. They were right! It was just a bad rainstorm. ![]() We almost canceled several times but we are so glad we didn’t! They kept saying the city could have some flooding or lose power for a couple hours but it will be beautiful the next day. Very available to communicate with via email and calmed our fears. We were scheduled to arrive during Hurricane Ian, which made us very nervous. The location couldn’t have been better! There were muffins, yogurts, fruit, cereals, coffee, teas, and even hot chocolate! They had options for gluten and dairy free which was so nice. This was the most darling little bed and breakfast! The bed was comfortable and the room and decor so lovely. Thank you to everyone there we can’t wait to return one day :)))) Danielle & John Tons of clothing space, cable tv… I forgot my sleep machine and there was one in the room. The surrounding horse barns are well kept (your nose would never know ) There are so many choices in Charleston and we know we picked the right one. The staff was friendly and helpful without being intrusive. It felt like we were going home at night not some stiff hotel. You can tell the owner truly cares about her little gem. Those little touches go a long way with me. Linens and towels smelled fresh like tide. I can be picky and am not shy to ask to switch rooms if I see dirt something smells funky, etc. ![]() I loved the fireplace and jetted tubs in the indigo room. Aside from the great location, we got a true Charleston experience staying in this quaint b&b. My husband and I just had a wonderful stay here.
